What is a Residential Treatment Center?

Residential Treatment Centers for Troubled Girls

A residential treatment center (RTC) for troubled girls is a therapeutically intensive inpatient facility that caters explicitly to wayward, at-risk teenage girls whose behaviors, primarily due to underlying mental health issues, are negatively impacting and potentially jeopardizing the quality of their life. Residential treatment centers are the undeniable champions of the troubled teen industry in that they make up for a large portion of programs geared to treating troubled teenagers. That said, residential treatment centers are often mistaken, misrepresented, or otherwise counted as other programs, such as boot camps, wilderness therapy programs, and group homes. It's also worth noting that many programs and those within the industry also count therapeutic boarding schools as RTC's and interchangeably use their terms (although technically different).

Due to the vague and often overuse of the term, residential treatment centers come in many different forms with varying philosophies, ideologies, academic curriculums, and therapeutic services offered. As such, parents of troubled teens should thoroughly research and inquire into any prospective RTC before sending them their daughters.

A Residential Treatment Center for troubled girls is, by definition, a single-gendered facility. RTC Programs feel that at-risk teen girls can better focus on therapeutic, emotional, and spiritual growth when the distraction of the opposite sex is not present.

These single-gendered facilities' sole purpose is to psychiatrically, academically, and (in the case of Christian RTC's like MasterNet) spiritually treat troubled girls whose underlying issues have led them to engage in unfruitful and potentially dangerous behaviors.

Clinical professionals staff residential treatment centers with any clinical credibility with years of experience explicitly treating teenagers' psychiatric and behavioral issues. Also, most reputable RTC's for troubled girls heavily emphasize peer support.

Under the watch of attentive, professional staff, girls at RTC's are encouraged to work through their personal issues with other girls who struggle with similar at-risk behaviors and mental health-related problems.

So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. - Ephesians 4:17

Mental Health Residential Treatment

In today's society, millions of teenagers live with mental illnesses that, if left untreated, can ultimately lead to addiction or even fatal consequences. Unfortunately, less than half of teens with mental health-related conditions receive treatment for their illness due to cultural stigmatization attached to mental health conditions.

Given the potential consequences that mentally ill teenage girls face, parents need to seek immediate treatment for their children if they don't receive treatment.

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9

MasterNet represents the best Christian residential treatment center that offers an accredited residential treatment center for at-risk adolescent girls who need behavioral, emotional, and spiritual change and psychiatric therapy for mental health-related issues.s

The best RTC programs provide therapeutic counseling for girls living with mild-to-severe mental health and behavior-related issues such as adoption issues (reactive attachment disorder), self-harm and self-mutilation or cutting, eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia, self-sabotaging behaviors, addiction-related issues, and defiance.

"We represent only Christ-centered programs that emphatically preach the Gospel of Christ. And, while we strongly encourage EVERYONE to seek "truth" (Jesus) for themselves and trust in the Holy Spirit, we do not force anyone to change their beliefs." Founder, Craig Rogers

While we firmly believe in Jesus' guidance and the message of his teachings, we also understand the importance of mental health and emphasize the importance of mental health care.

"and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." - Romans 3:24

Treating Underlying Emotional Issues in a Residential Treatment Setting

At MasterNet, we work with programs that treat adolescent girls who are seemingly giving up on life. Like any troubled adolescent, many troubled girls engage in out-of-control behaviors because of underlying issues.

In other words, the prior behaviors of our students are nothing more than a cry for help, the symptoms of deep-seated, unconfronted internal issues (often, in secret). At MasterNet, we treat the illness, not the symptoms.

Our psychiatric professional staff focuses on treating the underlying issues rather than our students' behavior, i.e., those living with bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, and other emotional and behavioral disorders. Our program seeks to bring internal issues to the light to rehabilitate adequately.

"Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you." Ephesians 4:31-32
